Here is one of the few pictures of Buddy Holly taken boarding an airplane.
It was taken exactly one year before the tragic plane crash that took Buddy's life.
The picture, one of two owned by Myra Lewis of Buddy shows the Lee Gordon troupe boarding a Butler Air Transport plane bound for Queensland on their Australian tour.
Buddy is at the far left with Paul Anka and Russ Smith in the foreground. In the background in the striped shirt waving his arms is Jerry Lee Lewis. Buddy is wearing a lightweight suit in this picture as it was of course summertime in Australia when they embarked on the tour, quite a contast to the stark bleak cold English weather they would encounter just a few weeks later.
